Browne Leads Burroughs in Clincher

Roman Browne scored two goals, helping the Burroughs High boys’ team to a 3-0 victory over Canyon in a Foothill League match Friday at Burroughs.

Claudio Navarette also scored for the Indians (15-5-2, 7-0-1), who clinched a tie for their fifth Foothill League title in six seasons.

Burroughs goalkeeper Jose Munoz made four saves to post his 11th shutout and fifth in league play, both school records.

Canyon fell to 10-7-3 and 2-3-3.

Burbank 2, Saugus 1--Pablo Gonzalez scored two goals, lifting the Bulldogs (5-10-2, 1-5-2) to a Foothill League upset at Burbank.

Simi Valley 4, Agoura 1--The Pioneers (18-4-3, 8-2-2) scored four goals in the first 25 minutes of a Marmonte League victory.

Royal 4, Thousand Oaks 2--Kendall Simmonds scored four goals for the Highlanders (19-5-1, 10-2) in a Marmonte League victory over the Lancers (10-9, 5-6).

Camarillo 2, Newbury Park 0--Scott Coleman and Christian Routzen scored for the Scorpions (13-3-3, 7-2-2) in a Marmonte League match against host Newbury Park (13-6-1, 6-5).

Quartz Hill 3, Highland 0--The Rebels (11-5-4, 6-2) moved into a three-way tie for first place with Palmdale and Littlerock in the Golden League.

Buena 1, Hueneme 0--J.J. Delgado scored on an assist by Ariel Hurtado for the Bulldogs (12-3-5, 6-2-4) in a Channel League match.

Chaminade 2, Harvard-Westlake 0--Mike Whitaker and Gene Lee scored for the Eagles (10-7, 7-3) in a Mission League match at Chaminade.

Notre Dame 2, Crespi 1--Pat Thomsen scored with two minutes left in overtime for the Knights (11-6-1, 7-3) in a Mission League match against host Crespi (13-6-1, 7-4).
