The Matador senior threw the weight 63 feet 6 3/4 inches to set a fieldhouse record and top her school mark of 61-0 1/4 set two weeks earlier. Her performance also exceeded the automatic qualifying standard (62-4) for the NCAA indoor championships in Indianapolis, March 7-8.

Burton’s 49-7 1/2 effort in the shotput was a Northridge indoor record and improved upon her previous best of 49-4 1/4.
