Senior left-hander Erasmo Ramirez of Cal State Northridge gave up only five hits in 9 1/3 innings on Friday, but all he had to show for it was a 2-1 loss to Wichita State in a round-robin game of the Hawaii baseball tournament at Honolulu.
Ramirez (5-3) struck out five and walked two, but an error by Northridge shortstop Adam Kennedy led to an unearned run in the bottom of the 10th for the Shockers (20-6).
Northridge (22-14-1) tied the score, 1-1, in the third inning when Terrmel Sledge doubled home Adrian Mendoza.
Dan Pierce had the only other hit for the Matadors, a single.
Wichita State’s Ben Thomas gave up two hits, struck out four and walked three over the first nine innings.
Marc Bluma (1-2) retired the Matadors in the 10th.
Northridge, which is 1-4 in the six-team tournament, will play New Mexico today at 1 p.m. PST. The winner will play in the third-place game.
