Ennis Has Perfect Game for Monroe

John Ennis pitched a perfect game and struck out 12 batters for Monroe High in a 1-0 victory over Canoga Park in a Valley Pac-8 Conference baseball game Tuesday at Monroe.
It was the second no-hitter of the season for Ennis (6-3).
The right-handed junior struck out the side in the third inning and recorded two strikeouts each in the first, sixth and seventh.
Monroe (11-12, 6-8 in conference play) scored in the first when Joe Nocera came around from second base on a one-out error by Canoga Park (4-16, 3-11).
Chatsworth 9, El Camino Real 4--Ismael Marin (8-0) scattered seven hits through 5 1/3 innings and Greg Wold struck out three of five batters to notch his third save in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Chatsworth.
Chatsworth (16-7, 11-3) collected 13 hits while chasing starter Shaun Fishman (4-6) in the second inning. Tim Weigan hit a double and a two-run home run. Tom Morefield was three for three, including a run-scoring double.
Joel Morales had two hits, including a home run, for El Camino Real (13-9, 8-6).
Birmingham 4, Taft 1--Alberto Flores pitched a three-hitter, striking out six for the Braves (15-13, 7-7) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Birmingham.
Aaron Minor had three hits and scored twice for Birmingham.
Mitch Spector had a run-scoring single for Taft (14-10, 7-7).
Sylmar 11, Grant 3--Carl Ball was three for three with three RBIs for the Spartans (14-9, 6-8) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Grant.
Jose Acevedo (5-4) of Sylmar struck out six through six innings and had two hits.
Kennedy 8, Granada Hills 0--Adrian Perez had three hits, including a three-run home run, in an eight-run fourth inning for the Golden Cougars (19-9, 10-4) in a Northwest Valley Conference game at Granada Hills.
Reseda 7, Van Nuys 3--Alfredo Saenz had three hits and four RBIs, Leo Rosales had three hits and scored three runs, and Oscar Cardona had three hits, including a double and a triple, for the Regents (9-11, 5-8) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference game at Reseda.
Hueneme 7, Ventura 1--Chris Neri pitched a five-hitter with three strikeouts and the Vikings (15-6, 9-2) moved into the Channel League lead, one game ahead of Rio Mesa (17-4, 8-3).
Robert Avila and Jess Sanchez each drove in two runs.
Buena 5, Rio Mesa 2--David Arroyo (5-1) pitched a seven-hitter, striking out 10 for the Bulldogs (10-5-1, 6-4-1) in a Channel League victory at Buena.
Rick Helland hit a two-run home run for Buena in the first.
Loyola 5, Chaminade 2--Ryan Hamill hit his 14th home run of the season but the Eagles (21-2, 7-2), No. 1 in The Times’ regional poll, committed five errors in a Mission League game at Chaminade.
Hart 9, Valencia 3--Eric Horvat had three hits and two RBIs and Chris Wright had three hits and scored four runs for the Indians (15-8, 9-3) in a Foothill League game at Hart.
Brian Otis and Bucky Downs each had two hits for Valencia (12-10, 5-7).
Moorpark 6, Santa Paula 5--Sean Best squeezed home Chris Doan in the seventh inning for the Musketeers in a Frontier League game at Moorpark (14-8, 9-3).
Calabasas 16, Santa Clara 2--Rick Stockton and Ryan Coleman each had two hits and three RBIs for the Coyotes (21-2, 12-0) in a Frontier League game at Calabasas.
Crescenta Valley 2, Hoover 1--Josh Herman and Jason LaMotte combined on a four-hitter for the Falcons (13-7, 10-2) in the Pacific League game at Stengel Field.
Crescenta Valley broke a 1-1 tie in the fifth when a throwing error allowed Chris Oliver to score.
Oak Park 7, Carpinteria 2--Gene Holdgrafer’s two-run homer helped the Eagles (14-6, 9-1) clinch the Tri-Valley League title.
