La Verne Damien 6, La Mirada 5 (9)--In the Division II championship, second baseman Connor La Rose squeezed in the winning run in the ninth to lead Damien to its first title. He also singled in two runs to tie the score in the top of the seventh.
Damien (24-6) took an 8-7 advantage on Chris Jakubauskas’ home run in the eighth inning, but La Mirada (19-11) tied it on Scott Rudiger’s RBI single in the bottom of the inning.
Jakubauskas pitched the final five innings, allowing two runs, while striking out four to improve to 4-0.
