Agoura Oaks Has Plenty of Power in 15-2 Victory

Matt Bernstein and Ryan Clement combined on a five-inning no-hitter for Agoura Oaks in a 15-2 victory over Van Nuys West on Wednesday in an American Legion District 20 baseball game that was called because of the 10-run rule.

Jeff Smith and Brent Hirsch each had two hits and four runs batted in for Agoura Oaks (10-5). Smith hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning to give Agoura Oaks, which has won four consecutive games, a 14-2 lead.

Bernstein (2-1) struck out three, walked three and gave up two unearned runs in four innings.

In other District 20 games:

Saugus 7, San Fernando 4--Justin Babin had three hits, three RBIs and pitched a six-hitter at Saugus High.

Babin (2-0) struck out six and walked three for Saugus (7-8) and teammate Ron Clark was three for three with one RBI.

West Hills 8, North Hollywood East 7--Spencer Gordon scored on a wild pitch with two out in the bottom of the eighth for West Hills at Chaminade High.

Gordon had three hits, scored three runs and drove in one. Brian Kirby had three hits for West Hills (6-8).

North Hollywood East (5-9) trailed, 7-3, after six innings but scored four runs in the top of the seventh, capped by a two-out, two-run double by Jordan Krall.

Palmdale 19, Tri-Cities 8--Brian Stien was four for four, scored five runs and drove in another at Highland High.

Stien led a 23-hit attack for Palmdale, which had five homes runs and three doubles.

Wes Johnson and Mike Arellano each had three hits for Palmdale, with Johnson scoring four runs and driving in three and Arellano scoring three times with one RBI.

Manny Yanas had two home runs and five RBIs for Palmdale. He hit a two-run home run in the fourth and a three-run shot in the seventh.

John Santor was four for four and scored twice for Tri-Cities (5-7-1), which had 18 hits.
