UC SAN DIEGO WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

* County connections: Sherine Ebadi of Los Alamitos High, Shannon Noonan of Santa Margarita, Leslie Punelli of Dana Hills and Anne Moore of Marina High.

* Worth noting: UCSD (25-5) will host the NCAA Division III semifinals and final Friday and Saturday. The Tritons will play Central (Iowa) in a semifinal Friday. Top-ranked Juniata (Pa.) and six-time defending champion Washington (St. Louis), featuring Melinda Doomey of Irvine, in the other semifinal. Ebadi, the team’s only senior, is the setter. She averages 10.7 assists per match and has a team-high 49 service aces. Noonan, a junior middle blocker, has a team-high 102 blocks. Punelli, a freshman outside hitter, has 158 kills. Moore, a junior reserve outside hitter, has 42 kills.

CAL STATE DOMINGUEZ HILLS WOMEN’S SOCCER

* County connections: Christine Tyler of Edison High and Cypress College, Jenae Veal of Ocean View and Christine Dahle of Estancia.

* Worth noting: Dominguez Hills will host the Division II final four Friday and Sunday. The Toros open against No. 1-ranked Franklin Pierce (N.H.), the three-time defending champion. Tyler, a senior midfielder, has 13 points, including four game-winning goals. Veal, a freshman midfielder, has started all 21 games. Dahle, a freshman defender, had an assist in Dominguez Hills’ 4-0 quarterfinal victory over Mesa State of Colorado.

PORTLAND WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL

* County connections: Cathy Cook from Irvine High and K.T. Lamb from Capistrano Valley.

* Worth noting: Cook, a freshman, was recently named West Coast Conference freshman of the year and to the all-conference team. She led her team in kills and blocks. Lamb, a freshman, led the team in digs.

UPDATES

* West Coast Conference volleyball: Katie Lindquist of San Diego was named to the all-conference volleyball team. Lindquist is from Ocean View. Pepperdine’s Jamie Hill, a transfer from UC Irvine, was named to the second team.
