Area Players Advance in City Tennis Playoffs

Ten area players won preliminary singles matches Tuesday at the Studio City Racquet Centre and Mountaingate Country Club to advance to the first round of the City Section individual girls’ tennis playoffs.

Diana Friedland and Lora Tasseva of Van Nuys High each got singles victories to join teammate Leslie Musser, who had a bye, in Thursday’s first round. Michal Zeituni and Jasmin Dao of Granada Hills and Heejo Chun and Rachel Vishnevsky of El Camino Real also advanced.

Other area players to advance were Sabrina Warda of Kennedy, Sonia Ovsenyan of Grant, Yeni Cisneros of San Fernando and Debbie Yim of Cleveland. Jamie Macias of Chatsworth had a bye.
