Valencia Blocks La Canada

Jerrohn Jordan had 18 points, 11 rebounds and seven blocks, and Fabian Leon had 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead Valencia High to a 62-56 victory over La Canada in a nonleague boys’ basketball game Tuesday night at La Canada.

The Vikings (6-1), ranked ninth in The Times’ regional poll, avenged a 70-42 loss to La Canada in the Saugus tournament last week.

Valencia had 17 blocks, including six by Eskias McDaniels.

The Vikings led most of the game but had to rally from a five-point, third-quarter deficit. Valencia took the lead for good, 53-51, on a three-point basket by Mark Sison with four minutes left.

Matt Moore had a game-high 31 points for La Canada (4-2), ranked seventh in the region.

In other boys’ games:

Grant 85, Thousand Oaks 71--Adir Levy made eight three-point baskets en route to 34 points and Gilbert Arenas scored 27 for Grant (3-1) in a second-round game of the Thousand Oaks tournament.

Bas Van Rhee had 28 points and 20 rebounds for Thousand Oaks (2-4), and Chris Fidyk added 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Littlerock 54, Paraclete 50--The Lobos (3-3) prevailed despite not making a field goal in the fourth quarter in a nonleague game at Paraclete.

Brad Ronge made four three-point baskets and Gene Myvett had 13 points for Littlerock.

Palmdale 61, Ridgerest Burroughs 42--Tim Phelps scored 16 points, Kerry Yates added 15 and Aaron Winchester had 11 points and 13 rebounds for the Falcons (3-2) in a nonleague game at Palmdale.

Canyon 67, Lancaster 58--Junior center Everett Bryson scored 22 points for the Cowboys (3-2) in a nonleague game at Lancaster (0-3).

St. Bonaventure 84, St. Genevieve 49--Brandon Duplessie, a 6-foot-6 freshman center, had 16 points and 10 blocks for the Seraphs (5-0) in a nonleague game at St. Genevieve (0-3).

Burroughs 68, Glendale 59--Jeremy Cartee had 22 points and nine rebounds for the Indians (3-1) in a nonleague game at Burroughs.

St. Francis 62, South Pasadena 57--Anthony La Velle scored seven of his 17 points in the fourth quarter to help the Golden Knights (1-0) rally from a nine-point, first-quarter deficit in a nonleague game at South Pasadena.

Hoover 67, Burbank 47--Mark Hull had 21 points and 11 rebounds, and Kris Rubio added 19 points for the Tornadoes (4-0) in a nonleague game at Burbank.

Nordhoff 43, Carpinteria 36--Andy Flores had 15 points and 13 rebounds and Chris Christoffersen scored 11 points for the Rangers (4-1) in a nonleague game at Carpinteria (0-1).

Crescenta Valley 70, Alhambra 48--Michelle Greco had 20 points and 15 rebounds and Sinnamonn Garrett added 14 points and nine rebounds for the region’s top-ranked team in a nonleague rout at Crescenta Valley (3-0).

Van Nuys 42, L.A. CES 33--Junko Murata had 13 points and LaTaneka Henderson added 11 points and 11 rebounds for the host Wolves (1-2) in a nonconference game.

Reseda 49, San Fernando 40--Ig Herrera made 11 of 15 free throws en route to 23 points for the host Regents (2-3) in a nonconference game.

Chaminade 51, Oak Park 43--Adriane Stefansen had 20 points and seven rebounds to help the host Eagles (5-1).

Harvard-Westlake 73, Brentwood 40--Omelogo Udeze had 19 points, 10 rebounds, six steals and four blocks for the Wolverines (4-0) at Harvard-Westlake.
