Vigilante update--Manager Buck Rodgers is back after missing about a month as the team starts the second round. He was in Ohio helping his father recover from an automobile accident, in which his mother was killed. Both teams are expected to be tired after playing at 5:05 Saturday evening in Salinas then driving about seven hours to get to Mission Viejo for today’s game.

Pepper update--Salinas lost two of three in its first trip to Mission Viejo in late May. The Peppers are led by pitcher Wally Ritchie, who is 7-2 with a 3.57 earned-run average. He is 2-0 against the Vigilantes. His first victory, 4-2, was on May 28 and, 7-2, on July 10.
