Bousquet wins--Ryan Bousquet of Esperanza finished ahead of Edison’s Andy Knutsen by three seconds to win the Freeway League finals in 15:44 over the three-mile course at Central Park.

In the South Coast League finals:

Mission Viejo wins--Mission Viejo’s Mark Gleason ran a time of 15:02 and set a course record as Mission Viejo won the league finals with 37 points. The old course record was set in 1995 by Capistrano Valley’s Alberto Sanchez.

The Cougars’ Leonel Perez finished second with a time of 15:35 over three miles at Laguna Niguel Regional Park. Capistrano Valley finished second with 55 points.

Devin Lind (15:35) finished third for third-place Dana Hills.

In the Freeway League girls’ cross-country finals:

Smith wins--Esperanza’s Pam Smith won the Freeway League title in 18:43 over the three-mile course at Central Park. Esperanza (5-0) captured the team title with 18 points.

In the Century League girls’ tennis quarterfinals:

Becker advances--Katey Becker and Arpi Kojian of Villa Park, the fourth-ranked team in the county, advanced to the Century League singles semifinals with straight-set wins.

In Empire League girls’ tennis finals:

El Dorado sweeps--Junior Amanda Oldridge led El Dorado, sweeping the singles and doubles league titles. Oldridge won in singles, 6-3, 6-0, and with partner Tracy Le, rallied from a one-set deficit to win, 4-6, 7-5, 6-4.

In Freeway League finals:

Yuan defends title--Junior Iris Yuan of Sunny Hills defeated Stacey Lee of Troy, 6-3, 6-0, at the Sunny Hills racquet club to win her second consecutive Freeway League championship in singles.

In the Sunset League finals:

Hipp wins title--Jenny Hipp of Fountain Valley defeated Christina Weng of Marina, 6-2, 6-3, to win the league individual championship. Kelly Six of Esperanza took third place after winning by injury default over Shauna Brodsky of Los Alamitos.

In Golden West League girls’ volleyball:

No. 3 Ocean View 3, Rosary 0--Amy Knebel had 10 kills and Tracy Lindquist had 36 assist and 14 digs to help Ocean View to a 15-5, 15-3, 15-13 victory. The win clinches the league title for the Seahawks (13-1, 10-1).

In the North Orange County water polo tournament:

Garden Grove 14, Los Angeles Loyola 10--Jeff Colton and Tommy Lane led the Argonauts with six and two goals, respectively. Tony Palmer made nine saves in the consolation quarterfinal match. Garden Grove is 18-6 (2-1 in the tournament).

In a nonleague game:

No. 8 Villa Park 17, Mission Viejo 9--Kyle Baumgarner led Villa Park (18-9) with seven goals and Matt Doerr made 11 saves. Mission Viejo is 6-21.
