Bethel Christian Rules Again, 70-12

Travis Alkire rushed for 203 yards and four touchdowns in 13 carries for Lancaster Bethel Christian in a 70-12 victory over Viewpoint in the first round of the Southern Section eight-man Large Division playoffs Saturday at Lancaster.

The game was called at halftime because of a 45-point rule, the fifth time in nine games the top-seeded Eagles (9-0) have won by the rule. Bethel out-gained the Patriots (6-3), 387-108.

Brandon Eggerts added three touchdowns on a 45-yard interception return, a 36-yard reception and an 80-yard kickoff return.

Sherwin Shilati scored on a one-yard run and on a kickoff return for Viewpoint.

The Eagles face West Shores, a 40-12 winner over Pilgrim, next Saturday in the second round.

Valley Christian 50, Grace Brethren 0--The Lancers (7-2-1) surrendered touchdowns on Valley Christian’s first four possessions in a Large Schools first-round game at Valley Christian.

Grace Brethren’s Jackson Beauchamp completed five of 16 passes for 71 yards and two interceptions.

David Stephenson had 29 yards rushing in eight carries for the Lancers. The game was called in the third quarter.

Riverside Christian 32, Campbell Hall 28--The Cougars, seeded second among Large Schools, escaped an upset when John Ralph scored on a 17-yard run with 2:45 left.

Ralph gained 216 yards and scored three touchdowns for the Cougars (8-1).

Campbell Hall finished 6-4.
