Tustin, Foster Give Canyon 60-0 Thrashing

Tustin quarterback Todd Scott said his team came ready to play in their final nonleague game of the season.

When it was over, Tustin left little doubt in a 60-0 victory over Canyon Thursday at El Modena High.

“We learned to stay focused the whole time,” Scott said. “We wanted to make sure we played the whole game.”

DeShaun Foster, the county rushing leader, did his part with six touchdowns and 199 yards rushing in 18 carries. He had four scores on runs of 60, 15, four and five yards, he caught a 25-yard pass for a touchdown and did it on defense with a 99-yard interception return, his second interception return for a touchdown this season.

Tustin (5-0) led, 46-0, at halftime.

Foster who suffered a right shoulder injury and was examined at halftime, returned in the third quarter when the Tillers had fourth and one at their 29. He finished the drive with the touchdown reception. He had two catches for 53 yards.

Scott completed five of seven passes for 147 yards and three touchdowns.

Julius Williams had a 10-yard touchdown reception and later scored on a 47-yard run.

Josh Schaer had the Tillers’ other touchdown when he came across the middle and hauled in Scott’s pass and went 55 yards for the score.

Canyon (0-5) struggled again, gaining 71 yards of total offense.
