No. 1 Corona del Mar 12, No. 4 Villa Park 6--Corona del Mar’s doubles teams of Nadia Vaughan and Robyn Coleman, and Courtney Tenerelli and Jenny Meyers swept to lead the visiting Sea Kings (5-0).

Katey Becker swept in singles, including a 6-3 victory over Nina Vaughan, for Villa Park (3-1).

No. 5 Capistrano Valley 12, No. 8 Laguna Hills 6--Capistrano Valley won two tiebreakers in the first round to go ahead, 4-2. Heather Friesen and Jessica Joseph swept at No. 2 doubles, 6-4, 7-6, 6-4, to lead the Cougars (4-0).

Laguna Hills (3-1), playing without doubles player Rashan Hsiau, who sat out with a leg injury, got a sweep in singles from Jessica Prause, 6-2, 6-2, 6-0.

No. 9 Los Alamitos 10, Santa Margarita 8--Monica Ralli and Lauren Teweles led Los Alamitos (1-2) with a 6-0, 6-2, 6-2 victory in doubles.

Erim Miller swept in singles, 6-2, 6-2, 6-3, for Santa Margarita.

Palos Verdes Peninsula 13, No. 7 Newport Harbor 5--Brooke Taylor won two of three sets in singles, 1-6, 6-0, 6-1, for Newport Harbor (3-2), ranked fourth in Division I. Hanna Miller swept in singles, 6-1, 6-4, 6-0, for Peninsula (4-1), which is top-ranked in Division I.

Fullerton 9, Connelly 9 (Fullerton wins on games, 75-68 games)--Annie Bethancourt defeated Natalia Zambrano, 6-2, in the decisive match for Fullerton (4-1). Reena Pandhi swept her matches, 6-2, 6-1, 6-3, for Connelly (1-4).

In nonleague girls’ volleyball:

No. 2 Ocean View 3, Cerritos Gahr 0--Sharon Shelton had 12 kills for Ocean View (2-0), which won, 15-5, 15-11, 15-9. Gahr is ranked seventh in Division II-AA.

No. 3 Fountain Valley 3, No. 10 Capistrano Valley 0--Natalie Snowden had 10 kills and Melissa Plass added nine for Fountain Valley (2-1), which won, 15-9, 15-2, 15-8. Capistrano Valley is 2-1.

No. 4 Huntington Beach 3, Corona del Mar 0--Denee Erezins had 19 kills and and Lauren Wilson added 13 to lead the Oilers to a 15-11, 15-10, 15-11 victory.

No. 5 Newport Harbor 3, No. 9 Dana Hills 0--April Ross had 11 kills for the Sailors (2-1), who won, 15-3, 15-2, 15-8.

No. 7 Santa Margarita 3, San Clemente 1--Michelle Chambers had 26 kills and Lauren Heri contributed 17 for Santa Margarita (1-1), which won, 15-6, 11-15, 15-7, 15-7.

Bridget Beschen led San Clemente (0-3) with 14 kills.

Laguna Hills 3, Loara 2--Jessica Miles had a match-high 32 kills for Loara (2-1), which lost, 2-15, 15-11, 15-10, 10-15, 10-15.

La Habra 3, Rosary 0--Setter Amanda Siler contributed 45 assists, seven blocks and six kills for La Habra (2-0), which won, 15-10, 15-12, 16-14.

In nonleague water polo:

No. 3 Los Alamitos 11, No. 9 Laguna Beach 6--David Kong scored four goals and Tyler Wawrzynski three for host Los Alamitos (5-1). Spencer Dornin scored three goals for Laguna Beach (1-1).

Fountain Valley 11, Irvine 10 (sudden death)--Fountain Valley’s Geoff Marecek tied the score with one second left in regulation, then Brad Causee won it with 16 seconds remaining in the second sudden-death period for Fountain Valley (2-1).
