Northridge Kicked Around Again
Cal State Northridge lost to San Francisco, 4-1, on Friday in the Santa Clara men’s soccer tournament. It was the fourth consecutive defeat for the Matadors (1-7).
The Dons (4-3) built a 2-0 halftime lead on goals by Alexsander Akerjordet in the 35th minute and Inge Klevberg in the 43rd.
Aamon Ross of Northridge scored his first goal of the season in the 50th minute, but Keith Ratzburg and Klevberg tacked on goals in the 66th and 78th minutes for San Francisco.
San Francisco outshot the Matadors, 10-8. Don goalkeeper Zack Vaughn stopped two shots while Northridge’s Christian Perez and Victor Lopez each played a half and combined to make three saves.
Each team had 16 fouls.
Northridge has won once in its last 15 matches dating to last season and has been outscored, 34-8, in that span.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Ventura 8, Oxnard 0--Janet Cooper and Krista Janik each scored two goals and Joy Barry, Lisa Luper, Carrie Waller and Fiona Macdonald also scored for the Pirates (9-2, 3-0) in a Western State Conference match at Oxnard (0-4, 0-4).
Moorpark 6, Santa Ana 0--Freshman forward Nikki Hagouel continued a stellar season with two goals and Robin Rowley, Brenda Escobar, Liz Gonzalez and Jen Cooney also scored for the Raiders (4-4) against the Dons (6-3) at Moorpark.
Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 4, The Master’s 1--Margaret Longbotham scored in the 18th minute for the Mustangs (3-4) but the Athenas (2-3) scored four unanswered goals at Claremont.
