Rosson Has One-Hitter, Strikes Out 18

Amy Rosson showed no signs of slowing down Tuesday, pitching a one-hitter with 18 strikeouts in Calabasas High’s 8-0 victory over Santa Clara in a Frontier League softball game at Beck Park in Oxnard.

Rosson (8-3), who struck out 38 batters last week in two league victories, lost her bid for a no-hitter in the fifth inning when she surrendered a one-out single.

Sara Hall had two hits and drove in a run for Calabasas (10-4-1, 7-0 in league play).

Crescenta Valley 3, Glendale 0--Meredith Cervenka (11-0) lost a no-hitter when Kelly Cook bunted for a one-out single in the seventh inning of a Pacific League game at at Montrose Park.

Cervenka struck out four and issued a fourth-inning walk on the way to her ninth shutout.

Danielle Proctor had three hits, scoring twice and driving in a run for the Falcons (16-4, 3-0), and Melinda Moulden drove in two runs with three hits.

Camarillo 2, Newbury Park 1--Cindy Ball had an RBI single in the first inning and later scored on a single by Kim Casper in the first inning of a Marmonte League victory for the Scorpions (10-1, 7-0) at Camarillo.

Ball and Katy Stokx of Newbury Park (11-4, 4-3) pitched three-hitters with seven strikeouts.

Simi Valley 1, Agoura 0--Jill Clarkson’ ground ball in the seventh inning drove in the only run and the Pioneers beat the Chargers (8-7, 2-4) in a Marmonte League game at Rancho Simi Park.

Brittney Green of Simi Valley (14-2, 4-2) pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks.

Moorpark 5, Santa Paula 4--Meaghan Finnerty had an RBI double and the Musketeers (9-2, 7-1) scored twice in the 10th inning of the Frontier League victory at Santa Paula (6-5, 4-2).

Hoover 6, Pasadena 0--Cori Herbert pitched her fourth no-hitter of the season, striking out 15 and walking none for the Tornadoes (10-4, 3-0) in a Pacific League game at Hoover.

Hart 2, Burroughs 0--Amanda Fortune pitched a two-hitter, striking out four and walking three and Hart (12-2, 3-0) defeated Burroughs (12-5, 0-3) in a Foothill League game at Olive Park in Burbank.

Saugus 1, Valencia 0--Jennifer McLarty squeezed home Katie Hoggatt with one out in the seventh and the Centurions upset Valencia (10-5, 2-1) in a Foothill League game at Saugus.

Stephanie Blaire (7-4) pitched a two-hitter for her third shutout in five games for Saugus (11-7, 2-1).

Alemany 6, Notre Dame 0--Kim Diener (13-6) pitched a four-hitter for her sixth shutout, and Annette Ramirez had three hits, including a triple, scored two runs and drove in two for the Indians (13-6, 1-1) in a Mission League game at Sylmar Independent Baseball League complex.

Thousand Oaks 4, Royal 0--Colleen Spencer had three hits for the Lancers in a Marmonte League victory at Thousand Oaks Community Center.

Nicole Angelo pitched a two-hitter with six strikeouts for the Lancers (9-3-1, 5-2).

Rio Mesa 9, Ventura 1--Jessica Brown had three hits and scored two runs for the Spartans (11-2, 6-0) in a Channel League victory at Ventura (3-8, 1-6).

Palmdale 13, Antelope Valley 1--Kristi DiMarco had three hits, including a home run, scored three runs and stole three bases for the Falcons (11-5, 2-1) in a Golden League game that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule at Palmdale.

La Reina 3, St. Bonaventure 2--Monica Thompson scored the winning run for the Regents on a balk with two out in the seventh in a Tri-Valley game at La Reina.

Stephanie Hall had three hits and two stolen bases, and MacKenzie Vandergeest had two hits, including a home run for La Reina.

Kennedy 7, Cleveland 4--Briana Mathiesen and Carin Garcia hit run-scoring doubles for the Golden Cougars in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Brand Park.

Patty Del Real (10-5) struck out five for Kennedy (14-5, 5-1).

El Camino Real 13, Birmingham 0--Jessica Vaught and Stephanie Frasco combined on a no-hitter for the Conquistadores (12-2, 5-0) in a Northwest Valley Conference game that was called after five innings because of the 10-run rule.

Vaught (1-0) struck out five and walked one in three innings and Frasco struck out three.
