Conejo Valley Advances to Big League Series, 6-0

Conejo Valley advanced to the Big League World Series by winning the Western Regional title Wednesday night in Sacramento, defeating Oahu, Hawaii, 6-0, on a five-hitter by Dave Turner.

Joe Yinling and Danny Greene each had three hits for Conejo Valley (20-1), which went unbeaten in four games in Sacramento.

Conejo Valley plays Broward County, Fla., the host team, in the Series opener Friday.

Brian Baron, a former Hart High outfielder and two-time All-Big Ten Conference selection who hit .349 at Northwestern last season as a sophomore, will transfer to UCLA.

GOLF

Jenny Glasgow, a Pepperdine junior, and Linda-Chen Olsen of Granada Hills advanced to match play after finishing in the top 64 of stroke play in the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship at Barton Hills Country Club in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Adriana Han of Glendale shot six-over-par 77 and is tied for eighth after the first round of the American Junior Golf Assn. Boise Junior Classic at Warm Springs Golf Club in Boise, Idaho.

Dolores Tuimoloau of Moorpark College signed a letter of intent with Cal State Los Angeles.

The Channel Islands graduate won the 1994 state high school shotput championship and was third at the state junior college meet in May.
