Thousand Oaks Downs Royal Again

For the third time this season, the Thousand Oaks High boys’ soccer team defeated Marmonte League rival Royal, edging the Highlanders, 1-0, in a Southern Section Division I second-round playoff game Wednesday at Thousand Oaks.

Danny Ermolovich’s shot from the left side landed inside the right post in the final minute of the first half, advancing the Lancers (16-3-5) to a quarterfinal meeting with Loyola on Friday.

In other Southern Section second-round games:

San Luis Obispo 2, Santa Paula 1--Antonio Gudino’s 16th goal gave the visiting Cardinals (10-7-6) a 1-0 halftime advantage in a Division IV game. Santa Paula surrendered the two goals after having two players ejected in the first five minutes of the second half.

St. Bonaventure 3, St. Margaret’s 0--Alex Doran scored twice, allowing the Seraphs (8-5-9) to host a Division IV quarterfinal Friday against Tri-Valley League rival Bishop Diego.

Harvard-Westlake 0, LaSalle 0--Shootout goals by Fred Post, Lerato Simelane, Danny Sable and Ryan Kim lifted the host Wolverines (19-6) to a Division IV victory and advanced them to a Friday quarterfinal against South El Monte.

In City Section second-round games:

Reseda 4, Palisades 2--Goals by Oscar Sims and Jesse Servin broke a 2-2 halftime tie and gave the Regents (14-2-3) the victory at Reseda. The Regents host San Pedro in a quarterfinal Friday.

Poly 3, Franklin 0--Eric Calvillo, Ugo Navarro and Luis Montoya scored for the third-seeded Parrots (12-1-3) at Poly. The Parrots host Roosevelt in a Friday quarterfinal.
