Heads-Up Buena Wins, 2-1
Conner Nideffer scored on a header in the final minute of play Tuesday to give Buena High a 2-1 victory over Oxnard in a Channel League boys’ soccer game at Buena High.
The Bulldogs (9-1-2, 2-0 in league play) tied the score on a goal by Brad Workman.
Dagoberjo Martinez gave Oxnard a 1-0 lead in the 20th minute.
Rio Mesa 4, Ventura 0--Bryan Monka scored two first-half goals and David Cervantes scored his 16th goal for the Spartans in a Channel League game at Ventura (5-3, 1-1).
Ivan Medina also scored for the Spartans (8-2-1, 1-1). Rio Mesa’s Christian Zuniga made three saves for his fifth shutout.
Harvard-Westlake 2, Flintridge Prep 1--Danny Sable had a goal and an assist, and Matt Thayer added a goal for the Wolverines (7-4) at Harvard-Westlake.
Crescenta Valley 4, South Pasadena 1--Eddie Nashat scored the first two goals for the Falcons (8-4-1) and Lindon Pecorelli the last two at South Pasadena.
Palmdale 2, Paraclete 1--Wes Lisska’s header early in the second half snapped a 1-1 tie for the Falcons (9-6) at Paraclete.
Lisska had both Palmdale goals.
Calabasas 5, Brentwood 1--Itzik Rappaport and Brian Lando each scored two goals for the Coyotes (7-2) at Calabasas.
Burroughs 2, Glendale 0--The Indians (8-1-4) got all the scoring they would need two minutes into the game when a Dynamiter defender knocked an errant pass beyond his goalkeeper and into the net under pressure from Genghis Hernandez of Burroughs.
Gary Guenther scored in the second half.
Glendale is 3-4-1.
GIRLS’ SOCCER
Burroughs 5, Village Christian 3--Lisa Palermo scored twice for the Indians (7-5) at Village Christian.
Kacey Sayers scored all three goals for Village Christian (2-7), two on second-half penalty shots.
Valencia 1, Calabasas 0--Sara Foster scored in the first half and the Vikings (11-5) turned back the Coyotes (3-3-1) at Valencia.
Buena 8, Oxnard 0--Natalie Sanderson had three goals and two assists, and Ashleigh Garmon added three goals and an assist for the Bulldogs (7-2-3, 2-0-1) in a Channel League game at Oxnard.
Highland 4, Ridgecrest Burroughs 1--Meghan Stewart scored two goals, and Maggie Ramos scored one and assisted on another for the Bulldogs (6-7-1) at Highland.
Oak Park 6, Moorpark 0--Rebecca Carroll scored her ninth goal and had three assists for the Eagles (3-6-2) at Moorpark.
Buckley 3, St. Genevieve 2--Lindsey Berman scored three goals for the Griffins (2-1) and Anna Fernandez had two for the Valiants at St. Genevieve.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Glendale 80, Santa Barbara 57--Will Ruffin had 27 points, 11 rebounds and four steals for the Vaqueros in a Western State Conference interdivision game at Glendale.
Ruffin scored six points during a 10-0 run that increased Glendale’s lead to 72-56.
Tonny Hoggatts had 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Vaqueros (9-7).
WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Cal Lutheran 93, Simpson 37--Hilarie Jones and Nicole Sanchez each scored 14 points for the Regals (3-6) at Simpson (5-3).
Cal Lutheran had 24 steals.
GIRLS’ WATER POLO
Louisville 8, La Canada 4--Kim Feig scored four goals for the Royals (9-0, 1-0) in a Mission League game at La Canada.
