VALLEY PAC-8 CONFERENCE

Sylmar 28, Monroe 7--Senior Corey Neal scored on runs of four, seven and two yards for the Spartans (4-2-1, 4-0) at Sylmar.

Neal carried 11 times for 157 yards, but fumbled away two punt returns.

With Monroe (2-5, 0-4) trailing, 14-7, midway through the fourth quarter, Sylmar’s George Wrighster intercepted Diego Barba’s pass and returned it 56 yards to the Monroe four-yard line to set up Neal’s final touchdown.

David Contreras scored on a 23-yard run for Sylmar with four minutes remaining. Contreras rushed 10 times for 54 yards.

Monroe’s touchdown came on a one-yard run by Andre Peeples midway through the third quarter after Omar Stewart recovered Neal’s second fumble at the Sylmar 38. Peeples rushed for 43 yards in 13 carries.

Noah Albiston of Sylmar completed three of 10 passes for 58 yards, but lost a fumble.
