Seven County Players Named All-State

Seven Orange County baseball players were named to the fourth annual South All-State team. The team, selected by the California Baseball Coaches Assn., is made up of 20 players from the CIF Southern, San Diego and Los Angeles sections, representing over 600 high school teams.
The county players selected were--Jason Corapci, shortstop, Canyon; J.P. Frid, pitcher, El Dorado; Ty Harper, third baseman, Corona del Mar; Pat Manning, shortstop, Mater Dei; Mike Martinez, pitcher, Katella; Brian Wolfe, pitcher, Servite; Brett Young, pitcher, Calvary Chapel.
SURFING
Daize Shane of Hawaii won the inaugural Toes on the Nose Women’s World Longboard Championships last week at Boca Barranca in Costa Rica. Among those competing against Shane in the finals was Kim Hamrock of Huntington Beach.
In the men’s amateur division, Cody Simpkins of Newport Beach reached the finals. Joel Tudor won the men’s pro longboard competition.
