Son of Homicide Victim Found Dead in Hotel
SANTA MONICA — The 34-year-old son of a woman found dead in her home last week has also been found dead, authorities say.
Maxwell Wills’ body was found in a Santa Monica hotel room, according to a Los Angeles County coroner’s spokesman, who said the death has been ruled a suicide.
His mother, Margaret Bodfish, 56, was found bludgeoned to death June 30 in her home in Orinda.
Credit report records show Wills was living at his mother’s house as recently as June.
Orinda Police Lt. Dan Lawrence has said that investigators planned to talk to Wills, who was not a suspect in his mother’s slaying.
Neighbors described Bodfish as reclusive, and some had not seen her near her Orinda home for 20 years. She also owned a house in Mill Valley.
