Marshall Is Running at Record Pace
Jermaine Marshall of Kilpatrick rushed for 423 yards and seven touchdowns in a 76-32 victory over L.A. Baptist on Saturday, significant numbers, but not records even for the region.
Ronney Jenkins of Hueneme rushed for 619 yards in a 1996 game, and Corey Neal of Sylmar scored eight touchdowns against Poly last season.
But Marshall could be on pace to set state records for season rushing yardage and touchdowns.
He has rushed for 1,794 yards in six games, a pace that would give him 4,186 yards should Kilpatrick play 14 games and advance to the Southern Section Division XII final.
David Dotson of Valley View of Moreno Valley holds the state mark with 3,523 yards.
Marshall’s 33 touchdowns put him on pace for 77 in 14 games, which would eclipse the record of 59 scored by DeShaun Foster of Tustin in 1997.

The key Golden League game between Highland (3-3, 1-0) and Littlerock (5-1, 1-0) has been switched from Saturday afternoon to Friday night at Highland.
The game was originally to be Highland’s homecoming, but the school has switched that event to its Nov. 5 game against Quartz Hill.
