Northridge Pitchers Take Another Hit, 8-5

Cal State Northridge continued to struggle, falling to San Diego, 8-5, Wednesday in a nonconference baseball game at San Diego.
The Matadors (12-22) committed four errors and six pitchers allowed 10 hits, three walks and hit three batters.
Bobby Koba had three hits, including a home run, to pace Northridge’s 10-hit attack. Reserve Aaron McKenzie added two doubles.
BOYS’ GOLF
Calabasas 380, Nordhoff 410--Peter Heilbron shot a two-under par 70 at Calabasas Country Club and the Coyotes (9-1) shot a season-low score to win in a nonleague match.
Heilbron had an eagle, four birdies and four bogeys in his round.
Camarillo 383, Simi Valley 387--Chris MacLaughlin of Simi Valley shot a two-over par 73, but Randy Carpenter and Jeff Riddle of Camarillo shot 74s to lead the Scorpions (16-0) in a nonleague match at Simi Hills Golf Course.
MEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Cal State Northridge def. LaVerne, 15-7, 15-11, 15-8--J.P. Jandreau had 21 kills and a .621 hitting percentage, and the Matadors cruised to a nonconference victory at LaVerne.
Greg Harasymowycz added 18 kills and three service aces for the Matadors (10-12), who hit .405 against the Division III opponent.
Pierce def. Santa Monica, 15-4, 15-8, 15-2--Ryan Murdoch had 11 kills and Eddie Stanislawski had nine kills and 12 digs for the Brahmas (10-3, 6-1) in a South Coast Conference match.
BOYS’ VOLLEYBALL
Taft def. Granada Hills, 15-9, 15-7, 15-4--Mike Gledhill had eight kills and 11 blocks to help the defending City Section champion Toreadors win a West Valley League match at Granada Hills.
Mike Gledhill also had eight kills for Taft (10-0, 5-0).
Royal d. Simi Valley, 17-15, 15-9, 16-14--Casey Wilkinson had 20 kills and 10 digs, and Kamil Kawolski had 10 kills and 10 digs to lead visiting Royal (10-1, 8-0) in a Marmonte League match. Scott Motzel had 17 kills, Bart Kawolski had 63 assists.
BOYS’ TENNIS
Crespi 14, Malibu 4--Scott Stewart, ranked No. 9 in the USTA boys’ 16 division, handed Stephen Amritraj and Mike Smith their first losses of the season, but the Celts had the depth to win a nonleague match at Malibu (6-7). Amritraj is 29-1 and Smith is 41-1 for the Celts (12-2).
Westlake 13, Simi Valley 5--Mike Horak swept at No. 1 singles for the Warriors (11-0, 9-0) in a Marmonte League match at North Ranch Country Club.
