El Toro Bounces Back to Beat Capistrano Valley

Down by 11 in the fifth game, the El Toro rallied to score 13 consecutive points to defeat visiting Capistrano Valley, 15-13, 4-15, 11-15, 15-11, 15-13, in a South Coast League boys’ volleyball match Wednesday at El Toro.
UCI-bound Kyle Martin led the fourth-ranked Chargers with a match-high 37 kills, and teammate Jimmy Peltel chipped in with 34 kills, as El Toro came back from a 13-2 deficit.
Capistrano Valley (3-4, 1-2) was led by UCLA-bound Paul Johnson with 34 kills.
In the Empire League:
Century 3, Kennedy 0--Chris Ferretti had 10 kills for visiting Century (7-3, 3-1), in a 15-8, 15-3, 15-1 sweep.
Cypress 3, Katella 0--John Jenks scored six aces and teammate Justin Lee contributed nine kills as the Centurions (9-0, 3-0) rolled at Katella (0-8, 0-3).
El Dorado 3, Loara 2--Ryan Shirley had 25 kills and David Patten had 17 kills to lead El Dorado to a five-game come-from-behind win, 5-15, 6-15, 15-11, 15-4, 15-13 over visiting Loara.
In the Garden Grove League:
Bolsa Grande 3, Santiago 0--David Nguyen had a match-high 13 kills for visiting Bolsa Grande (10-1, 5-1) en route to the sweep, 15-9, 15-9, 15-9.
Pacifica 3, Garden Grove 1--Pacifica’s 15-5, 15-17, 15-4, 15-4 victory put them in a three-way tie with Garden Grove and Bolsa Grande. Nathan Harris had 15 kills and Matt McCall had 12 for host Pacifica (6-2, 5-1). David Adling had 12 kills for Garden Grove (6-6, 5-1).
In the Orange League:
Valencia 3, Brea Olinda 0--Brian Bartczak and Chris Franklin had 14 kills each for host Valencia (9-1, 2-0), which came from behind to score the last seven points in the final game and complete the 15-8, 15-9, 15-12 sweep.
In the Pacific Coast League:
No. 3 Corona del Mar 3, Estancia 0--Greg Stampley had eight kills and Evon Burden recorded 17 assists for Corona del Mar (5-1, 2-0), which swept, 15-0, 15-5, 15-4, at Estancia.
In the Sunset League:
No. 2 Marina 3, Huntington Beach 0--Jeff Wooton, a senior outside hitter, had 15 kills and middle blocker Steffin Rangal contributed 10 blocks for the visiting Vikings (8-1, 3-0). Huntington Beach fell to 6-2, 2-1.
No. 6 Fountain Valley 3, Los Alamitos 1--Nathan Hagstrom had 24 kills and Joe Boles had 27 assists to lead Fountain Valley (5-2, 2-1), which won 15-7, 15-11, 15-10.
