Corona del Mar 5, Newport Harbor 2--Dave Knecht hit a two-run home run in the fifth inning to give Corona del Mar a 4-2 lead. Rory McKeever had two hits for the Sea Kings, and teammate Wes Hockinson had two hits, including a double.

San Clemente 2, Fontana Miller 0--Junior Billy Pinney (3-2) threw a complete game for San Clemente (6-11) in the first-round game, giving up one hit and no walks. Pinney also drove in the winning run in the third inning.

In the Big West tournament:

Capistrano Valley 5, San Bernardino Cajon 3--Scott Cheo had two doubles and an RBI for Capistrano Valley (10-7).

In the Riverside tournament:

Fullerton 10, Rialto Eisenhower 7--Jimmy Waninger hit a two-run home run in the fourth inning for Fullerton (6-9-1) to break the 6-6 tie in the final game of the consolation round.

Jeff Larson had two hits for the Indians and teammate Armando Lopez had a triple.

In the Santa Ana Elks tournament:

No. 3 La Quinta 9, Saddleback 0--Arnelfo Arroyo’s three-run home run highlighted a seven-run first inning for La Quinta (19-0) in the first-round game.

Arroyo’s home run was his fifth of the season. Mike McKernan (5-0) went six innings for the Aztecs, giving up one hit while striking out four. La Quinta also got two hits and two RBIs from Jose Castaneda.

Covina Charter Oaks 12, Santiago 3--Mike Martinez had two hits and Rene Rangel had a two-run triple for Santiago (8-8) in the first-round game.
