Another Brownout for Valencia

Brusta Brown of Saugus High has the Valencia girls’ basketball team’s number.

On Thursday, Brown made four free throws in the final 30 seconds to help the Centurions (11-13, 5-5 in league) upset the first-place Vikings, 55-52, in a Foothill League game at Saugus.

Brown, who finished with 17 points, made a three-pointer at the buzzer to beat the Vikings (16-9, 7-3) in the teams’ first meeting this season.

Hart 43, Burbank 31--At Hart, Amanda Patton scored 19 points and the Indians (11-13, 5-5) clinched third place in the Foothill League and a playoff berth.

Santa Clara 78, Calabasas 39--Ashley Biggins scored 30 points and had 20 rebounds, and Nicole Palomares scored 23 points for the Saints (14-9, 7-1), who clinched a share of the Frontier League title at Santa Clara.

Oak Park 46, La Reina 37--Michelle Bergar scored 12 points for the Eagles in a Tri-Valley League victory at La Reina.

Lindsay Mettam had 13 points and eight rebounds for the Regents (3-14, 1-9).

Providence 39, Yeshiva 11--Shannon Hayes and Allison Lane each scored seven points and the Pioneers (19-3, 12-1) clinched their third consecutive Liberty League title at Providence.

Quartz Hill 64, Lancaster 54--Sharonne Herbert scored 26 points for the Rebels in a Golden League victory at Quartz Hill.

First Lutheran 34, L.A. Lutheran 33--Allie Godinez converted the front end of a one-and-one situation with less than a minute remaining to put the Falcons (5-14, 3-9) ahead to stay in a Heritage League game at L.A. Lutheran.
