In Division III:

Foothill 3, Pasadena Muir 0--The Knights were undeterred by soggy conditions as they outshot Muir, 20-3, and advanced to a quarterfinal game against top-seeded Santa Margarita.

“It was wet and there were puddles and mud, but much of the flank was dry so that helped,” Foothill Coach Barry Turner said.

Foothill scored 24 minutes into the game when David McAulay rebounded Jimmy Grigers’ shot and beat goalie Mike Orozco from seven yards out.

Steve Adams scored twice in the second half, once on an assist from Ryan Krume and once on a penalty kick with seven minutes to play.

Foothill (16-7-4) kept the pressure on Muir (9-10-5) and off goalie Brandon Shaver, who had to make only two saves.

Santa Margarita 2, Burbank Burroughs 0--Despite a waterlogged field that made set plays an adventure, Santa Margarita (21-1-3) got on the board two minutes into the game when Mike Meek scored off assists from Luke Boughen and Spencer George.

Sebastian Galnarini added a goal midway through the first half, heading a cross from Ryan Curtis into the upper right-hand corner of the net.

In Division IV:

Estancia 5, Orange Lutheran 2--With bodies slipping and sliding during Wednesday’s playoff game, Estancia’s Esaul Mendoza looked right at home, scoring three goals.

“He’s so fast and he is able to keep his balance so well out there,” Estancia Coach Steve Crenshaw said. “With everyone else sliding and falling all over the place, Esaul was able to keep it together and get the job done.”

The No. 2-seeded Eagles advanced to the quarterfinals where they will take on Santa Ynez at 3:15 p.m. Friday at a site to be determined by a coin flip.

Three games postponed--In the second round of the Southern Section boys’ soccer playoffs, three games were postponed because of rain: Division I Santa Ana at Lynwood, Division II Mater Dei at Ventura Buena and Division III La Puente at Santiago. The games will be played at the same sites today at 3:15 p.m.
