The Southern Section mandates semifinal games be played at alternate sites, but that doesn’t bother Newbury Park’s girls, who are undefeated at home.

The Panther gym is one of six identical facilities in Ventura County.

Newbury Park hosts Laguna Hills on Saturday night at Thousand Oaks High in a Division II-A semifinal.

Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks, Camarillo, Hueneme, Rio Mesa and Channel Islands have gyms with the same floor plans.

“We’ll just put up our posters and bring our Panther chairs [for our bench] and we’ll feel right at home,” Coach Nori Parvin said.

Newbury Park used Thousand Oaks as its alternate site in 1995, when won the Division III-A title.

Sites of other girls’ playoff games involving area teams on Saturday: Fullerton Rosary vs. Alemany at Harvard-Westlake; Harvard-Westlake vs. Bishop Montgomery at Mira Costa; Cerritos Valley Christian vs. Oak Park at either Newbury Park or Agoura; Camarillo at Lynwood.

Chatsworth plays top-seeded Narbonne at Southwest College in a City Championship semifinal.
