Thousand Oaks Wins in Overtime

Jeremy Terrell scored his second goal of the game with two minutes left in sudden-death overtime as Thousand Oaks High defeated Santa Monica, 2-1, in the Division I quarterfinals Friday at Santa Monica.

Terrell chipped a Nathan Chu pass over the Santa Monica goalkeeper for the game-winning goal. Terrell also scored two minutes into the second half off of a cross from Chris Jack. No. 2-seeded Santa Monica scored two minutes later to force overtime.

Thousand Oaks’ Tim Middleton had two tackles that saved goals, including one in the first-half that prevented an open-net shot.

The Lancers (18-4-4) play Temecula Valley in Tuesday’s semifinals. Temecula Valley, which was to play Alta Loma in another quarterfinal Friday, was awarded a berth in the semifinals after it was discovered Alta Loma used an ineligible player in a second-round match against El Toro and was forced to forfeit.

El Toro also forfeited that match because of the participation of a coach who had been ejected from the Chargers’ first-round game against Long Beach Millikan.

DIVISION II

Edison 1, Ventura 0--Eric Blaska scored on a header in front of the goal in the 79th minute off a cross from Danny Collins for host Edison (18-4-2).

DIVISION III

Calabasas 2, Garden Grove Santiago 0--Gil Hoftman and Itzik Rapaport each scored second-half goals for Calabasas (21-1-1) in a quarterfinal game at Santiago (17-5-4).

DIVISION V

Flintridge Prep 4, Mary Star 2--Mike Nijjar and Tizoc Cruz-Gonzalez each scored goals in overtime for the Rebels (11-7-4) in a quarterfinal victory at Flintridge Prep.

CITY SECTION

El Camino Real 1, Bell 0--Zach Greenberg scored in overtime for the No. 11-seeded Conquistadores (19-4-5) in a quarterfinal game at No. 6-seeded Bell.

University 8, Canoga Park 2--Mario Guzman and Alejandro Becerra scored for the No. 18-seeded Hunters (7-3-3) against No. 2-seeded University in a quarterfinal game at Webster Junior High in Los Angeles.
