Paraclete Hires t’Sas as Baseball Coach

Ed t’Sas, former Antelope Valley High coach, has been hired to replace Steve Hagerty as baseball coach at Paraclete.

T’sas coached eight years for the Antelopes, winning three Golden League titles. He resigned after the 1998 season.

Athletic Director Margaret Neill of Paraclete said a football coach to replace Hagerty will likely be selected in the spring.

* Ronney Jenkins, who played at Hueneme High and spent two tumultuous years at Brigham Young before transferring to Northern Arizona, will forgo his senior season and make himself eligible for the NFL draft.

Jenkins, who holds the national high school record with 619 yards rushing in a 53-24 victory over Rio Mesa on Nov. 10, 1995, was expelled from Brigham Young after twice violating the school’s honor code.

In his junior season at Northern Arizona, he rushed for 1,051 yards and seven touchdowns. He averaged 95.5 yards rushing and 5.7 per carry, earning second-team All-Big Sky Conference honors.

The Lumberjacks tied for second in the Big Sky at 6-2 and were 8-4 overall after losing, 72-29, in the first round of the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs to eventual champion Georgia Southern.
