Senior guard Leslie Mui appreciates her eventful career with the Grant High girls’ team.

“I’m glad I’ve left my mark,” she said.

Actually, Mui has left several marks on the Grant record book.

In the Lancers’ 62-60 victory over Verdugo Hills in a Valley Mission League game Wednesday, Mui scored 16 points to become the Grant career scoring leader with 976 points, surpassing the record of 960 by Nakeisha Perkins from 1995-’98.

Mui added 24 on Friday against Canoga Park and now has 1,000.

Mui set the school record of 103 assists in a season as a sophomore. She is the career record-holder in assists with 290 so far, and she has made a school-record 181 three-point shots in her career.

“There were several players out there,” Coach Eli Essa of Bell-Jeff said. “They were clowning around and broke it off the support. I wish I had JV guys that dunked.

“I offered to use our court, but their coach didn’t want to give up the home court.”

A makeup date has not been set.
