* Jenna Meyers became the first athlete from Thousand Oaks Hillcrest Christian to accept a Division I scholarship, signing with Seton Hall.
Meyers, an outside hitter, helped lead the Saints to the Southern Section Division V-A final.
BASEBALL
* Former Camarillo infielder Jay Caligiuri is hitting .412 (28 for 68) with 10 doubles and four home runs for Cal State Los Angeles.
* Former Kennedy pitcher Jon Garland, trying to earn a roster spot with the Chicago White Sox, allowed three runs on six hits in two innings in his spring training debut Sunday.
MOTORSPORTS
* Ron Hornaday Jr. moved into third place in the NASCAR Busch Series points standings following his eighth-place finish in the Sam’s Town 300 Saturday at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.
Matt Kenseth leads the series with 473 points, Randy LaJoie has 414 and Hornaday has 384.
* Ventura Raceway’s opening night was rained out Saturday. Another program is scheduled Saturday at the quarter-mile oval inside the Ventura County Fairgrounds.
