Miller Is Medalist at Golf Regional

Saddleback College sophomore Brian Miller shot 146 and took medalist honors in the Southern California regional golf championships Monday at Rio Bravo Country Club in Bakersfield.
Miller shot rounds of 75 and 71 and qualified for the state championships, which start Monday at Glendora Country Club.
Saddleback finished third in the team scoring with 761 points. Long Beach won with 749. Canyons was second (751), Desert fourth (768).
Jeff Greenfield of Golden West and Rob Clever of Rancho Santiago advanced to the state finals with scores of 149.
The top four teams advanced, as did the six low individuals who are not on one of the top four teams.
In the Southern California men’s tennis Playoffs:
Saddleback 6, Grossmont 3--David DiMartino won, 7-6, 6-0, helping Saddleback win a semifinal match. Saddleback plays Desert in the final at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Monterey Country Club in Palm Desert.
