Irene Cho shot a one-under-par 70 Tuesday in the Southern Section freelance tournament at Rio Hondo Country Club in Downey, leading Sunny Hills to first place and a berth in the Central Divisional tournament.

Mike Rim had a 71 for the Lancers, who shot a team total of 374 to win by 11 strokes over Calabasas. Apple Valley Granite Hills was third at 406. All three advance to the Central Divisional Monday at Sun Lakes in Banning.

Ocean View (408), Tustin (415), and Troy (445) were among the teams that did not advance.

Cho’s score was second only to that of Justin Ohye of Calabasas, who shot 67. The top five individuals advance to the North Individual Regional, but Cho can not qualify because she played in the girls’ Southern Section tournament last fall. She tied for eighth.
