SOUTHERN SECTION TENNIS PLAYOFFS
In other Division I matches:
Corona del Mar 14, Irvine 4--Corona del Mar juniors Randy Meyers and Robert Kennedy swept their singles matches, 6-1, 6-1, 6-0, and junior Brian Morton swept his singles matches, 6-0, 6-3, 6-0, for the Sea Kings, who play Dana Hills in the quarterfinals.
In Division II:
Brentwood 14, Edison 4--Edison (13-6) ended the season with a loss to visiting Brentwood in the second round.
Sunny Hills 13, Cerritos 5--Joseph Kao swept his singles sets, 6-2, 6-2, 6-0. The doubles teams of Sam Yeu-Richard Kim and Kevin Lee-Neal Vyas each won sets for the Lancers (16-6).
Troy 10, Foothill 8--Jeff Das of Troy was the only player who swept his sets, winning, 7-5, 6-1, 6-1, to help the Warriors (24-0) to the quarterfinals. Foothill finished 15-6.
University 16, Aliso Niguel 2--Edwin Chen and Scott Morgan swept their doubles matches, 6-3, 6-2, 6-1, for University (17-0). Sophomore Aaron Yovan won, 6-2, 6-1, 6-1, for the Trojans.
In Division III:
Canyon 15, Temecula Chaparral 3--Junior John Nguyen won, 6-0, 6-3, 6-0, at No. 1 singles for Canyon (19-2). Brian Batsel and Franklin Joo swept at No. 2 doubles, 6-1, 6-0, 6-4, for the Comanches.
Woodbridge 15, Brea Olinda 3--Sophomore Erik Oijala of Woodbridge (16-6) improved his singles record to 33-9, winning his sets at No. 2 singles, 6-0, 6-0, 6-0.
In Division IV:
Pacifica 10, Rosemead Don Bosco 8--Pacifica swept all of its doubles matches in the win. The Mariners (15-1) play San Luis Obispo in the quarterfinals.
