While preparing for its two biggest games of the season, Calabasas will have to make due without leading scorer Andre Woodert, a wide receiver and defensive back who tore a knee ligament last week.
The 6-foot-2, 190-pound senior was enjoying his best game against Malibu before he sustained the season-ending injury when a player rolled over his leg in the fourth quarter. Woodert, who has scored 10 touchdowns, returned a kickoff 92 yards for a touchdown and caught four passes for 72 yards against Malibu.
“He’s been real important to us this season and he’s going to be missed,” Coach Larry Edwards said.
If Calabasas (4-4, 2-0) defeats Santa Paula (6-1-1, 1-1) on Friday, the Coyotes will play Nordhoff for the Frontier League title Nov. 10.
