Thousand Oaks, one of the region’s biggest disappointments at midseason, has a three-game winning streak that could reach four against Simi Valley on Friday.

The Lancers were outscored, 135-49, in losing their first five games, but have totaled 97 points in victories over Royal, Agoura and San Luis Obispo.

“If we win our next two, we could end up second place in league,” said first-year Coach Mike Sanders. “We got a little spark, and once you get a taste of that success, it catches on like wildfire.”

The Lancers are also starting to get players back from injuries. Leading rusher Tony Ferrara is back after missing three games because of a dislocated shoulder, and receiver-defensive back Kevin Rex has returned from a knee injury sustained in the opener.

Thousand Oaks (3-5, 2-2 in Marmonte League play) concludes the regular season at Newbury Park.
