Brea’s Lord Commits to California

Jackie Lord, a guard at Brea Olinda, has committed to play at California, Ladycat Coach Jeff Sink said Wednesday.

Lord averaged 14.8 points, 4.1 assists and 3.5 steals last season, helping Brea win the state Division II title.

* Fox Sports Net 2 will televise 11 men’s basketball games involving Big West Conference teams this season, beginning with the UC Santa Barbara game at UCLA on Nov. 29 and concluding with the Cal State Fullerton game at UC Irvine on March. 1.

The network will also televise the conference’s women’s championship game on March 10 from the Anaheim Convention Center.

DEC. 6--Pepperdine at Long Beach State; 16--Irvine at UCLA; 30--Long Beach at USC.

JAN. 25--Irvine at Santa Barbara.

FEB. 1--UC Santa Barbara at Long Beach; 8--Long Beach at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo; 15--Pacific at Irvine; 17--Utah State at Long Beach; 22--Idaho at Fullerton.

The UC Irvine men’s team rebounded two spots to No. 3 in the nation in this week’s coaches’ Top 20 poll.

The Anteaters (8-3) defeated fourth-ranked California, 5-4, and sixth-ranked Stanford, 5-3, last weekend. Irvine plays host to eighth-ranked Pacific at noon on Sunday.
