As expected, Edison running back Darryl Poston has committed to USC, Charger Coach Dave White confirmed. The 5-foot-11, 171-pound senior, a Times’ Orange County second-team selection on offense last year, has rushed for 837 yards and 11 touchdowns in six games this season.

Fountain Valley receiver Manuel Diaz, who sat out the Barons’ last five games with an infection, is expected back in the starting lineup this week, Coach Eric Johnson said.

Receiver Chad Triplett and defensive tackle Eric Young are questionable with shoulder injuries. Triplett is the Barons’ leading receiver with 13 catches for 179 yards, and Young returned a blocked field goal 35 yards for a touchdown during last week’s game against Esperanza.

Sonora running back David Mayfield, who sat out the Raiders’ 16-6 victory over Sunny Hills last week with an ankle injury, has returned to practice and is expected to play against La Habra on Friday, Sonora assistant coach Mike Baker said.

Mayfield is the Raiders’ leading rusher with 722 yards in 114 carries.

Dial Radio Sports has expanded its prep football broadcast schedule to include the Oct. 27 game between Serra League opponents Santa Margarita and Bellflower St. John Bosco at Saddleback College.

Also, the Mater Dei-Servite game on Saturday, Oct. 28, at Cal State Fullerton has been added to the broadcast schedule in place of the Mater Dei-St. John Bosco game on Nov. 10.

The broadcasts may be heard on KPLS (AM 830).
