OUTLOOK

After struggling for most of the last decade, Ocean View had a banner season in 1999, advancing to the playoffs for only the third time in the school’s 22-year history and the first time since 1990. Can the Seahawks do it again? Eggers thinks his team faces “a lot of unanswered questions.” Most notably, who will take over the helm on offense, replacing quarterback Deshai Houston, who accounted for 2,567 yards and 35 touchdowns yards passing? The job could fall to Campbell, a wide receiver last season who caught 57 passes for 739 yards and eight touchdowns. Falessi, who rushed for only 235 yards last season, is expected to pick up more of the load. Houston also intercepted seven passes as a defensive back and Campbell may be asked to take that spot too. The Seahawks can’t afford injuries. A total of 19 letter winners return and most of them will see a lot of action on each side of the ball because depth is once again a problem, Eggers said. That will put the pressure on experienced linemen such as Murillo and Levu, who figure to anchor the Seahawks on both sides of the ball.
