Kilpatrick 56, Santa Clara 12--Tailback Jeremy Hartsfield scored six touchdowns, spoiling the return of Lou Cvijanovich as Santa Clara football coach at Channel Islands High.
Hartsfield, who rushed for 263 yards in 12 carries, scored on runs of 50, 21, 26, 62 and 72 yards, and returned a kickoff 90 yards for another score. He had a seventh touchdown called back because of a penalty.
Cvijanovich, who returned to the sidelines after a 25-year absence, saw his Saints (0-4) get touchdown passes from Jimmie Griffin of 17 yards to Joel Montoya and six yards to Donald Pinedo. Griffin finished 14 of 28 for 97 yards.
Steve Romero had a 56-yard touchdown run and Kenneth Jones threw a 16-yard scoring pass to Ronald Hendrix for Kilpatrick (1-3).
The Mustangs rushed for 391 yards compared to 84 for Santa Clara.
