4 Rescued From Capsized Boat
A Thousand Oaks man, his two sons and a third boy were rescued by the Coast Guard on Sunday after their sailboat capsized about a mile offshore.
The victims, who were wearing wetsuits, waited on top of the flipped vessel for about three hours before a passing boater spotted them and radioed for help about 5:30 p.m., authorities said.
No one was injured, and authorities declined to identify the victims. It appears they lost control of their 18-foot sailboat in winds topping 20 mph, authorities said.
Due to the strong winds and choppy water, the sailboat could not be towed to shore. It will probably drift in on its own, authorities said.
