Thousand Oaks’ Streak Ends With Wild Finish

Ashley Jones of Westlake High scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning and the Warriors’ 1-0 victory Tuesday snapped Thousand Oaks’ 28-game Marmonte League softball winning streak at Westlake.

Freshman Michelle Rehm (10-5) of Westlake pitched a two-hitter, struck out four and walked two.

Thousand Oaks (14-4, 7-1 in league play), ranked No. 4 in the region by The Times, threatened in the second, but Jenni Perez was thrown out at the plate by shortstop Julie Zelman.

The Lancers threatened again in the eighth when Sheridan Fowler reached base on a two-out error and stole second and third. Andi Keesling grounded out to end the threat.

Westlake (11-5-2, 3-4-1) had six hits off Nicole Angelo (10-3), who struck out seven.

Dos Pueblos 1, Ventura 0--Kristen Robinson pitched a four-hitter and didn’t walk a batter, but an unearned run in the seventh inning gave Dos Pueblos a Channel League victory at Ventura (4-11, 2-5).

Glendale 2, Hoover 1--Heather Hawasaki’s run-scoring single in the 14th lifted the Dynamiters in a Pacific League game at Glendale.

Crescenta Valley 2, Arcadia 1--Meredith Cervenka tripled and scored the winning run on Mel McCauley’s single in the 12th at Montrose Park in La Crescenta, vaulting the Falcons (20-1, 5-0) into sole possession of first place in the Pacific League.

Cervenka (19-1) pitched a seven-hitter with 12 strikeouts and did not allow an earned run.

Calabasas 6, Santa Paula 0--Shelly Madick pitched a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts, and the Coyotes (8-9, 7-1) moved into a first-place tie in the Frontier League with a victory at Santa Paula.

Madick (8-9), who had three hits and drove in three runs, allowed only one baserunner, who got aboard on an error.

Simi Valley 8, Moorpark 0--Chanel Roehner threw a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts and Nicole Brazier had three hits and two runs batted in for the Pioneers (10-8-1, 5-4) in a Marmonte League game at Moorpark.

La Reina 1, Fillmore 0--Sara DiJulio scored on Monica Thompson’s squeeze in the bottom of the 10th inning to give the Regents (8-8, 5-0) a Tri-Valley League victory at La Reina.

Paraclete 2, L.A. Baptist 0--Sara Gonzales (15-1) threw a no-hitter, struck out seven and walked two for the Spirits in an Alpha League victory at L.A. Baptist.

Tiffany Forrest had two hits and scored twice for Paraclete (17-2, 2-0).

Village Christian 14, Marshall 0--Alyssa DePompa had three hits and three RBIs for Village Christian (16-2, 2-0) in an Alpha League game at Village Christian.

Highland 12, Antelope Valley 0--Niki Secrease (3-1) threw a two-hitter, struck out five and walked one for the Bulldogs in a Golden League game that was called after six innings because of the 10-run rule at Antelope Valley.

Nichole Rawson had three hits and scored four runs for Highland (10-8, 4-1). Natalie Rawson, Nichole’s sister, had two hits, three RBIs and scored once.

Quartz Hill 10, Lancaster 0--Kellie Cox (7-2) struck out 12 and Cassie Corliss had three hits and two RBIs for the Rebels (10-9, 4-1) in a Golden League game stopped after four innings because of the 10-run rule at Quartz Hill.

El Camino Real 7, Cleveland 0--Melissa Coogan (18-4) pitched a three-hitter, struck out 13 and faced three batters over the minimum for the Conquistadores (18-4, 7-0) in a West Valley League game at Cleveland.

Sylmar 6, Kennedy 0--Vanessa Lira threw a one-hitter, struck out five and walked one for the Spartans in the Valley Mission League game at Sylmar.

Elyse Talavera hit a two-run single in the sixth for Sylmar (11-9, 5-2), which moved into a first-place tie with Kennedy.

Van Nuys 9, Reseda 6--Marisa Mochizuki had two hits and four RBIs for the Wolves (12-10, 5-2) in a Sunset Six League game at Van Nuys.

Taft 4, Birmingham 3--Kristin Trowbridge stole third and scored the winning run on a throwing error with two out in the bottom of the 13th of a West Valley League game at Shoup Park in Woodland Hills.

Kara Bounds had three hits and scored twice for Taft (14-8, 4-3).
