Crespi Makes Final Bid for Return to Mission

From Staff Reports

Three months after being voted out of the Mission League for football, Crespi High is trying to return with an assist from Harvard-Westlake.

In January, the Catholic Athletic Association voted to move Crespi to a new league for 2002 that would include Bosco Tech, Cathedral, St. Bernard, Serra and Bishop Montgomery.

Crespi officials were strongly opposed to the change. Harvard-Westlake has agreed to switch leagues with the Celts, according to Wolverine Athletic Director Toni Brown.

Crespi would join the league comprised of St. Francis, Notre Dame, Chaminade, Alemany and St. Paul. But for the change to take place, Crespi must receive approval from every member of the two leagues.

Today is the final day for Crespi to file an appeal with the Southern Section office.
