Brown Carries Paraclete Into Record Book

Curtis Brown became only the fifth player in Southern Section history to surpass 7,000 career yards rushing and top-seeded Paraclete claimed its section-record fifth consecutive football championship with a 44-0 victory over Montclair Prep Saturday night in the Division XII final at Valley College.

Brown, who ran for 229 yards in 21 carries, scored on runs of one, 35 and 47 yards to finish with 7,046 career yards.

Erick Jackson added 185 yards in 16 carries, including scoring runs of one, 66 and 73 yards.

Paraclete (12-0) outgained third-seeded Montclair Prep (9-2-1), 475 yards to 144 to extend its winning streak to 25 games.

Paraclete quarterback John Taylor completed seven of 12 passes for 80 yards.

Dal Johnson rushed for 61 yards in 15 carries for Montclair Prep.

The Mounties fell to the Spirits in the championship game for the second consecutive season, losing 14-12 last year.
