From Times Staff Reports

About 2,200 students and staff were evacuated from Huntington Beach High School on Monday after a fire broke out in a woodworking class.

Firefighters were called to the school at 1905 Main St. shortly before 11 a.m. when sawdust caught fire in the classroom’s dust-collection system, Huntington Beach Fire spokeswoman Birgit Davis said. Smoke spread through the building’s ventilation system, but damage was confined to the wood shop, Davis said.

No injuries were reported.
