Birmingham (4-0) at Taft (3-1), Friday, 7 p.m.

The team that has the ball last might win this offensive-minded West Valley League opener. Birmingham is averaging 45.0 points a game. Taft is averaging 44.3 points in its last three games. The teams are filled with players off their track teams. Taft won the City track title last season, with Birmingham the runner-up. Running back Justin Tryon of Taft has made the offense more balanced with his speed and running skills. Birmingham’s defense has struggled the last two weeks without injured linebacker Eric Ochoa, but he should play tonight. Birmingham won last year’s matchup, 41-14.
