Fontana Softball Protests Are Denied

From staff reports

The Southern Section office on Wednesday denied two protests filed by Fontana High’s softball program in the course of its 3-2 loss to Etiwanda in the second round of the Division I playoffs Tuesday. A section spokesman said the protests were denied because there was no way to substantiate the claims.

One claim was that Etiwanda took batting practice before the game, which is a violation. The other protest emerged from an incident in the fourth inning when an Etiwanda player allegedly took a trowel to the pitching rubber and dug a hole so the pitcher could get a better push off the rubber.
