False Bomb Scare Leads to Car Dealership’s Evacuation
A car dealership was evacuated in Los Angeles and the area around it cordoned off for four hours Thursday when a man claiming to have an explosive device walked in about 10 a.m. and demanded money.
Managers at the Felix Chevrolet dealership at 3300 S. Figueroa St. said that about 100 employees were evacuated. Police closed off the area bounded by 30th Street, Exposition Boulevard, Grand Avenue and the USC campus.
An LAPD spokesman, John Pasquariello, said that a man who went into the dealership said he had an explosive device and demanded money. Pasquariello said it was later determined that the bomb was a fake, and the workers returned.
Police were continuing to investigate Thursday night.
